On April 24th of 2018, a man wearing a hood and sunglasses sprayed gasoline on a woman and lit her on fire on a public bus in Peru. Having burns in 70% of her body and after 12 surgeries, Eyvi Ágreda died a month after the crime. Before Eyvi Ágreda was Ghelly Zea Cusilayme, who died in 2017 after her partner locked her in her own room and burned her due to a jealous rage. After Ghelly Zea Cusilayme was Juanita Mendoza, who died this year after being burned by a man while she was working on the street. He was her sister’s ex partner who threatened her when she ended up the relationship.

In the name of Peruvian women who suffered violence from their partners. We’ll never forget: Ghelly Zea Cusilayme, Katherine Monroy Huarca, Eyvi Ágreda, Marysella Pizarro Tuanama, Juanita Mendoza, Jacqueline Malqui Orbegoso, Nieves Huamani, Elizabeth Torres Pérez, Erika Valverde Salazar.
